Nichole Reid
ACMHC | Therapist
My roots in counseling began in education and working within the public school system. Tara Westover stated, "Education is not so much about making a living as making a person." I view counseling as another form of education that can help a person achieve their optimal self. My approach is holistic in nature and comes from a wellness perspective. I believe each person is multidimensional and that the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual aspects of an individual are interrelated. Working on one area affects all other areas. However, each client is unique, and I believe my role as counselor is to help clients identify their innate strengths, develop new self-awareness, and collaboratively set goals to ultimately achieve happiness and contentment in their lives. In the end, clients should feel empowered to face life's challenges.
I have a Bachelor's of Science degree from Utah State University. I taught for 7 years before earning my Master's of Education degree in Counseling and Development from Lamar University in Texas where my focus shifted to counseling. My strengths-based client-centered approach includes interventions from SFBT (Solution Focused Brief Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy). During my time as an Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor, I intend to pursue training in EMDR and play therapy.
