Melina Leatham
CSW | Therapist
Melina is passionate about empowering others to take control of their own lives and strongly believes in the quote from Robert Frost, “the best way out is always through.” She considers it a privilege to guide her clients “through” the variety of mental health and other issues that plague so many of us and uses her professional and personal experience to help relieve symptoms of trauma, depression (including suicidality and self-harm), anxiety, addiction, and grief.
Melina graduated from Utah Valley University with her bachelor’s degree in psychology, as well as her Advanced Substance Use Disorder Counselor certificate. She went on to earn her Master of Social Work degree from University of Utah and is currently working toward her LCSW.
Prior to working at The Green House Melina worked specifically with those struggling with addiction. Through this work she learned that most who struggle with addiction, if not all, have experienced some sort of trauma which contributed to their addictions. This knowledge transferred to her work here at The Green House where she now uses a trauma-informed approach to help children and teens, as well as adults, work through their experiences. She is trained in EMDR and mind-body bridging, as well as using other modalities such as child-centered play therapy, sand tray therapy, and art therapy. Additionally, Melina believes there is no perfect one-size-fits-all approach to therapy and uses a variety of other interventions including CBT, DBT, solution focused therapy, mindfulness, communication skills, psychoeducation, and humor to help her clients.
Aside from work, Melina enjoys her husband and their six ‘yours, mine, and ours’ children, reading, decorating cakes, napping, pickleball, the mountains, friends and extended family, and all things food.
