Neurological Biofeedback or Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback, or NF for short, is a technique used to train the brain to help improve body function and regulation in all areas. By challenging the brain with exercises done in a therapeutic setting, we can help the brain learn to function more effectively. We liken NF and its brain exercise to that of going to a gym for physical exercise.  As we exercise our muscles they increase in size and strength.  The same goes for NF.  By exercising the brain, we are simply building new neurological paths and strengthening existing ones. An important caveat to remember when it comes to NF is that everyone’s brain is different; just as everyone’s physical body is different. So some people may see results within a few sessions and others may not see results as quickly, but over time, it always makes a positive difference.

Neurological biofeedback has been a great addition to The Green House Center as one of our treatment methods.  Guerry, Collette, and Tyler have received certified training using this technology and have each seen improvements within their respective clients.

The great thing about NF is that it can help with a number of symptoms such as:

  • Sleep patterns
  • ADHD symptoms (impulsivity, lack of focus, easily distracted, etc.)
  • Autism
  • Depression
  • Emotional regulation (anger, rage, outbursts, etc.)
