Matthew Siufanua

AMFT | Therapist

My name is Matthew Siufanua, and if you ever ran into me out in the wild, you might find me out for a run, watching movies, or curled up with a good book and a hot cup of coffee. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist who graduated from Auburn University, and I absolutely love what I do. Because of my training and experience, I tend to see the world through a relationship lens, noticing how the way we connect with others shapes our thoughts, feelings, and actions. I also pay close attention to how power structures within families and communities can shape who we are and how we move through life.
I work with all kinds of people including parents and kids, teens, adults, and couples. Along with traditional talk therapy, I sometimes bring in creative approaches like sandtray therapy and art therapy to give clients different ways to explore their feelings and experiences.
When I am working with kids, I use Child-Centered Play Therapy, where play is the child’s language and toys are their words. Through play, kids can safely share feelings, process experiences, and build coping skills. I also love supporting parents through parent consultations, where I teach simple, relationship-focused skills that can improve connection at home and help ease challenging behaviors.
For teens and adults, I use Client-Centered Therapy, which is all about creating a safe, understanding space where you feel heard and respected. The goal is not for me to give any answers, but to walk alongside you as you explore your experiences, build on your strengths, and find the solutions that feel right for your life.
When I work with couples, I draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy to help partners break out of negative patterns and reconnect emotionally, and from The Gottman Method to strengthen trust, communication, and shared meaning.
For trauma, my passion is EMDR, a proven approach that helps the brain process painful memories so they do not feel as overwhelming. I also use other trauma-informed tools to help people move forward feeling lighter, safer, and more in control.
No matter who I am working with, my goal is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported as you work toward the changes you want to see in your life.
