Sometimes it requires more than a generalized desire to help other people to help a person who is experiencing a difficult life transition, behavior concern, or grief and trauma. However, it was out of a passion for helping others in a tangible way that lead Scott to the counseling profession. Scott earned his graduate degree from a CACREP accredited clinical mental health counseling program in Colorado before moving to Utah and joining The Green House Center. While earning his degree, Scott completed training in EMDR, certification in Motivational Interviewing, and founded a chapter for the international counseling society Chi Sigma Iota, for which he served as president.
Scott is passionate about understanding the brain and uses brain informed approaches in therapy. It can be easy for a person to feel shame about failed attempts to make positive changes, but by understanding the brain a person can find new direction, hope, and an appreciation for the mind’s ability to adapt and heal. Scott specializes in trauma therapy and REBT approaches to transitional issues, and he also uses the modalities of play, art, and sand tray. Scott enjoys spending time with family and exploring the many wonders of the outdoors.
