Jacob completed his doctorate in Marriage & Family Therapy from Loma Linda University in 2008. Prior to joining the Green House team, he worked with teenagers who were in residential treatment, helping them and their families work through the challenges they faced. He enjoyed the process of engaging resistant clients in a process that benefits the entire system, and will now use that experience to work with the families at the Green House, and hopefully prevent some out-of-home placements.
To aid him in working with families by understanding child development, he trained with the Child Trauma Academy and uses assessment procedures to gain a complete picture as possible of the children who are served at The Green House. He is also working toward becoming a registered clinician with ATTACh, an international organization advocating for, and training on, attachment needs.
While living in California, he and his wife decided to become licensed as foster parents. Over the next 10 years, they adopted four of the many children that lived in their home, adding to their three biological children. They remain active in community activities related to adoption and foster care, and use their personal experiences to connect with and support foster/adoptive parents.
