Donny has worked with adolescents since 2001. He started his journey at a residential treatment center where he worked as a residential staff member. Through his experiences he decided to work with individuals as a therapist. It was through role-modeling as a staff that he learned, having a relationship with others is imperative. Earning their trust and building relationships with individuals will help them overcome whatever issues that are facing in life. He has learned that in order for positive change to occur there must be strong/healthy relationships. He has an increased desire to help others overcome life’s challenges and obstacles by supporting them through their personal journey. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at Utah Valley University and then went on to receive his Master’s Degree in Social Work at Arizona State University.
Donny believes that having a secure attachment is an instrumental part of the healing process and the foundation for change. He works with all ages, including: children, adolescents, and adults. He has experience facilitating group on social skills, mindfulness, and dialectical behavioral therapy. Donny uses therapeutic modalities such as Play Therapy, CBT, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Sand Tray, Internal Family Systems, Neurofeedback (NF), Talk Therapy, and is working toward certification in EMDR.
Neurofeedback Trained - Donny is trained in the Othmer Method/Cygnet, Alpha/Theta and Synchrony training. His neurofeedback experience and training cover autism spectrum, ADHD/ADD, behavioral problems, depression, anxiety, headaches, migraine, dementia, impulsivity, mood swings, traumatic brain injury, PTSD, addictions, and enhancement of athletic performance.
Donny and his wife have three handsome young boys and a beautiful little girl that keeps them busy and happy. Included in his family are several pets. Two large dogs, two fish tanks (salt and freshwater), and a lizard. His kids are currently trying to talk him into a tortoise. In his free time he likes to read psychology books, bike, hike, spend time with his family, go to the gym, jog with his kids, and boat when there isn’t a drought.
